Spotlight on Farah Vintage

In Brands, Style Icons, Trends on September 2, 2011 by 10shamrock Tagged: , ,

The Farah brand first came on the scene in the 1920s and reached cult status some years later in the 1970s.

The trademark Farah slack became an instant hit with Britain’s youth culture for its slim, tailored structure and stain resistant technology and the brand soon became the must-have label throughout the 1980s.  As fashion savvy groups such as the ‘mods’ and the ‘skins’ began to crave the designs and incorporate the garments into their own style, Farah clothes began to represent elitism and generated a sense of respect to those who wore them.

Baracuta in the Movies (again)

In Baracuta, Brands, Style Icons, Trends on July 22, 2011 by 10shamrock Tagged: , , , ,

Baracuta and movies have always gone hand in hand. This iconic fashion brand is synonymous with movie stars on and off screen.

Well, the Baracuta G9 is once again getting its close up in front of the camera; this time in the remake of the classic film Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, starring Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Benedict Cumberbatch and Mark Strong.

There is only one true G9, and that is THE original Harrington Jacket by Baracuta.

baracuta_logo

The G9 earned the nickname Harrington because it was worn by the character Rodney Harrington (played by Ryan ONeal) in the 1960s television programme Peyton Place.

Classic King’s of Cool like Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Steve McQueen all loved the G9 so much that they wore it off screen too. This helped promote the fashion brand further because not only did people want to be the characters in the movies, they also wanted to emulate the stars playing them shooting the Harrington to new heights.

With the imminent release of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, the Harrington is no doubt going to get a new generation of admirers once more.

The new James Bond film (Bond 23) will also be released 26th October 2012, and everyone knows that Daniel Craig is a big fan of the Baracuta Harrington G9.

So it looks like this iconic fashion brand is not only here to stay but will keep its place at the top of men’s fashion for many more years to come.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is released on 16th September in the UK and 18th November in the U.S.A.

The white dress shirt is a total classic, the one thing every man alive should have hanging in his closet.

This fashion classic can be worn with so many different looks, from casual, to smart casual and of course as it was intended, the smart formal look.

Fashicon have put together a list of essential fashion items and looks that champion the classic white shirt.

Junk de Luxe Classic White Shirt

Classic White Shirt

It’s kind of a given that this has been neglected by some men down to the fact that this is known as a more formal fashion item but the classic white shirt as you will see has gone way beyond its formal past.

Daniel Craig

Daniel Craig works this formal white dress shirt in perfect style, opening up the top two buttons to give it a more casual flair but still looking very sharp in the process. This look would work well with a straight leg chino style trouser or tucked in slim jeans and shirt out with straight jeans for a total casual look.

Farah Vintage

The classic white shirt is an ideal choice for any summer party or lunch date. Wear it with some shorts such as Bermuda Shorts like these Original Penguin Whitfield Shorts.

Brad Pitt is the perfect example of someone who wears the classic white dress shirt in smart and casual styles.

Another style addition to the classic white shirt, staying with the casual look is the jacket or cardigan.

The classic white shirt was made for the Baracuta Original Harrington G9 jacket

Steve McQueen really made this look that every man should try to replicate, because you’re pretty much guaranteed to look cool the second you put these two items together.

For the cooler evenings the cardigan is a perfect casual accompaniment.

Recently returned from the USA, Tinie Tampah’s UK hit ‘Written In the Stars’ is currently featured on billboard.com’s Top 100.

Tinie Tempah Style

Tinie is certainly reaching great heights with his music but he’s also rapidly becoming a Fashicon in the public eye. Tinie loves fashion so much that he even started his own label ‘Disturbing London’ and recently sold out his Tea Cup T-Shirt line.

Original Penguin

Regularly being featured in magazine interviews for his fashion style as much as his musical talents, Tinie Tempah is inspiring a whole new generation to take style inspiration from different era’s and bring them together in a modern chic way.

Tinie is a big fan of graphic T-shirts from labels like Proper English and Retro Brand.

Proper English

Gone are the days that Rap stars wear T-shirts that are 8 sizes too big for them and 20 gold chains around their neck (thankfully).

Retro Brand

The likes of Tinie Tempah, Kanye West and Jay Z are all setting new style trends, stepping away from Ghetto street style and into a more tailored and sophisticated look.

Tinie Tempah Brits 2011

With young fans asking the question ‘what to wear to my first Tinie Tempah concert’ on forum posts, it’s clear that this Fashicon is having a profound effect on the style of future generations.

It’s easier and more affordable than you might think to recreate some of Tinie Tempah’s fashion styles.

The Original Penguin

In Brands on June 10, 2011 by 10shamrock Tagged: , ,

In 1955 Minnesota, Original Penguin came to life from a slightly drunken sales trip to NYC.

The ’55 was born!

Original Penguin has been worn in the past by icons such as Clint Eastwood, Frank Sinatra and the golf legend Arnold Palmer.

1950′s America was an age of progression, post war, pre swinging 60′s allowed for the birth of Rock ‘n’ Roll and the progression of fashion.

When you think of Icon’s, this is the era that really springs to mind.

Original Penguin is still going strong today and is worn by current film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Brad Pitt and Robert Patterson to name just a few.

The Original Harrington G9 jacket by Baracuta is still going strong

In Brands, Trends on June 1, 2011 by 10shamrock Tagged: , , ,

Fashion may change, styles may come and go but when something is this good, it will be around forever. The Original Harrington G9 is as much a part of fashion today as it was in the 50′s, 60′s, 70′s and 80′s.

The Original Harrington G9 jacket by Baracuta is still going strong. Style savvy folk have been donning this iconic garment since 1937!

This fashion icon has been loved through the ages and just keeps on being revived. There is no substitution for the Original Harrington G9 jacket by Baracuta, nothing else comes close to the real deal.

During the 1980′s there were plenty attempts at recreating this legendary garment; you could see them in all the ‘cheap’ clothing stores down Carnaby Street and all across the market squares of Great Britain. Oh the travesty!

Thankfully Carnaby Street has redeemed itself and now features shops that resemble the fashionista pull it had in the 60′s and 70′s. With shops such as Ben Sherman, Fred Perry and Lambretta nestled in between new labels like G-Star, Diesel and Pretty Green; Men’s fashion certainly has a very bright future.

If it’s good enough for James Bond (AKA: Daniel Craig) then it’s good enough for me.

You can find the Original Harrington G9 jacket in many places, but there’s one place where you can get it for a legendary price and delivered straight to your doorstep!

Get your Harrington jacket and become a Fashicon.
